My Guide to Loving Relationships

 Religion and Love
Back to Full Blog

One of the most loving of relationships is our relationship with God. If we truly know God, then we experience love in a personal way. Without God, one cannot love like God. Without God, one cannot properly experience and recognize the importance of love.

If one has experienced love, one has experienced God.

Many things are practiced in the name Jesus and Christianity that have nothing to do with Jesus. Many things are practiced in Christian churches that have nothing to do with original and true Christianity.

Christians are known best by their love.

Accept no religion that does not properly emphasize and practice love.

Theo if we as Christians would truly practice the teachings of Jesus love would flow everywhere in abundance. Jesus said if you love me you will obey my commandments - they are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and to love your neighbor as yourself. John goes on to tell us that we are liars if we say that we love God and do not love our fellow Christian. What if those were requirements of church memebership in the churches where people claim they are Christians? Love- it is hard, difficult and not always rewarding like we would want - but it sure gives one a better feeling inside than alot of other things particularly hate. Blessings, Theo and thanks for making us think of our responsibility again.

PrayerfortheDay, truth is that we cannot make anyone love God or others. We choose whether to love and act loving each day. We have to have God's help and power to live and love like God, regardless what churches require. But, I get your point. You are exactly correct.

Reminds me of an old song: What the world needs now is love, sweet love by Jackie Deshannon.

"What the world needs now is love, Sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone.

"Lord, we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last till the end of time

"What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone

"Lord, we don't need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh, listen Lord, if you want to know"

What the world needs now (and forever) is love, sweet love.
